  1. That's a weird old image. Kind of reminds me of some Derek Hess (sp?)stuff, but I don't know much about art being from Barnsley and all!!

  2. It's one of Ronald Searle's images from when he was interned in a Japanese PoW camp during the second world war. He died on the new year's eve just passed nd his death was announced yesterday. Really interesting man - incredible life, and a master of illustration.

  4. Yeah, I hesitated as to whether to post this or not, as I'm indirectly linking it to a fictional setting and didn't want to trivialise the image: it's a stark and grim vision, especially when you appreciate that it was drawn from life.
